Yasaka Jinja Shrine

Not too far down the road from Kiyomizu-dera Temple is Yasaka Jinja Shrine.

The shrine is a popular one to visit with locals and tourists alike, and is made up of several really interesting buildings :)

At one entrance is a large concrete torii gate that you can pass through as it looms over you, and after this you can see the buildings dotted around the open area ahead ^^

The stage here has loads of lanterns hanging from it, and they look really good during the day, but I bet they look brilliant when all lit up at night ;)

A lot of people come to the shrine to pray, but there are just as many tourists and day trippers walking around admiring the place, and it’s interesting to see the mix of people.

The main gate is one of the most well known faces of the shrine, and the colours of it are amazing in the sunlight.

This time on our trip to Japan we took my Grandma with us on her first visit to the country, and I think she was so far impressed with what she saw ^^
