Shinsekai

Shinsekai is an old neighbourhood in Osaka which was created with New York as the model for 1 half of it, and Paris as the model for the other half >.>

The main attraction in the area is Tsutenkaku Tower, which was originally modelled after the Eifel Tower, and there are several shopping arcades in the area which offer cut-price clothes and food/snacks :)

There are also a lot bars in the shopping arcades, and the local older gents like to start their drinking early in the day :P

It’s probably not an area to go to alone though, as Shinsekai has a reputation in Osaka as being a “bad neighbourhood” ^_^;

When we were there though, there were no problems, and we saw a few other tourists looking around too…..but perhaps keep your guard up a little more than you usually would have to in Japan ;P

We went into the shops at the bottom of Tsutenkaku Tower to have a look, but we didn’t go up to the observation deck because there was a long queue.

When we arrived though, we managed to see the end of an Oba-Chaan live show….the old lady equivalent to AKB48 ;>.>

They seemed very popular, and posed for photos with fans at the end :P
