Clifton Suspension Bridge 150th Anniversary

Yesterday was the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol :)

The design for the bridge was chosen through a competition which was won by the design from Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

The bridge is 412m long and has 75m of clearance below it at the high water mark, and it’s a very popular landmark in Bristol…..so popular in fact that tens of thousands of people filled the areas around the water below for the fireworks display last night >.>

We managed to find a pretty good spot for viewing the celebrations, and it was an impressive display ^^

Fireworks launched from all along the bridge, and it looked really good :)

One of the highlights of the display was the firework waterfall effect from below the bridge, it looked amazing :D

The fireworks were launched in time with music playing from speakers placed around the area, and as it built towards the finale the bridge disappeared in a blinding light several times….it was a brilliant display :)
