Less than an hours bus ride from Amsterdam is the town of Edam, where Edam cheese gets its name from :)

The bus from Amsterdam stops at an open air terminal area in Edam, and when walking just around the corner from that we were suddenly transported to a completely different place away from the main road.

There are really nice routes you can walk along the side of the water, and while we were there it was very peaceful and quiet :)

Edam felt like the Cotswolds of Holland to us with its cute building styles and narrow streets leading to the town’s market square.

Unfortunately we were there at the wrong time to see the traditional cheese market which is still held in the square.
