On the way back from Edam towards Amsterdam we stopped off at Volendam, a harbour town not too far away from Edam :)

Entering Volendam along the route the bus took we saw a lot of residential areas and streets which would easily fit in if they were transported to England, and the shopping area we walked through towards the harbour was very different in style after the quaintness of Edam.

The main attraction of Volendam seems to be the harbour and nearby streets though, which have a really nice style, and seem more “Dutch” again hehe.

It was quite windy when we arrived at the more exposed air of the harbour, but there was a big tall mast ship there with a huge flag on the back, and it looked really good flying in the wind ^^

There is a shopping street running along the length of the harbour and continuing a bit to either end as well. Lots of souvenir shops, cheese shops, and places where you can have your photo taken wearing traditional Dutch costumes.

It was a really interesting place to walk around :)
