House for an Art Lover

The House for an Art Lover was built between 1989-96 in a park in Glasgow, based on designs by Charles Rennie Mackintosh which he created for a competition entry along with his wife in 1901 :)

Using plans, elevations and perspective drawings from the competition entry this house is an interpretation of Mackintosh’s work.

Where there were gaps in the design, due to it being a competition entry and not a fully detailed document, ideas were taken from completed Mackintosh buildings of a similar style.

It’s a really nice place to visit and walk around with the audio guide telling you about each room and about Mackintosh himself, and I think they did a really good job at creating a full building from just a competition entry ^^
