The Spanish Steps in Rome

The Spanish Steps are another famous landmark in Rome popular among tourists…..although I’m not sure if the steps are famous because they’re popular, or popular because they’re famous :P

The steps were constructed to create an easy route from the nearby Spanish embassy up to the church at the top, and the steps get their name from the embassy.

It used to be popular to sit on the steps with an ice cream, but due to the mess which started to be caused by hundreds of people doing this every day it’s banned to eat or drink on the steps ^_^;

A lot of tourists still come here to sit on the steps though; we arrived at a time in the morning before it starts to get busy, but even while we were there we noticed the crowds starting to build…….it probably looks very different when covered in people, so it was nice that we got to see the steps at the time we did :)
