Tastes of Japan: Katsu Curry

A staple Japanese food that we make quite often at home is Japanese curry, but a variety that I like a lot is katsu curry :D

In the UK it seems that whenever you see “katsu curry”, either in a restaurant or as a make at home meal kit from a supermarket, it will usually be chicken-katsu curry.
I think proper katsu curry should use tonkatsu though, which is fried pork cutlet in breadcrumbs ;P

Another thing that me and Y’ have noticed here is that the curry part of the dish is only really a small(ish) amount of curry sauce, and the dish is mostly rice and the katsu.

So what we have made here is proper katsu curry :P
Japanese curry rice….lots of curry lots of rice, and with tonkatsu on top……yummy ^o^

To make this in the UK you can buy Japanese curry roux blocks in some supermarkets now, or at Chinese food shops.
